I liked school and being with my friends, but I didn’t like doing the work.
I was a hyper kid – it was hard to focus. I did a co-op at Cashway’s Lumber and I ended up getting a part-time job because of that.
I also did a co-op at a hotel construction site, then I got into framing…ad caulking…and, the thing is, I really like working.
I hate being bored. My guidance counselor said that I could keep working and go to school, no problem. I was good at the work that I was doing.
Now I’ve just started my own company and I contract myself out to other companies. I’ve been to Barbados three times, working on a Hilton Hotel there. Good times!
The days are long sometimes, but I really like it. It’s decorative stuff and it has to be perfect. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else right now.
